Default Virulence

Virulence.....a trappers best friend?

Is Virulence {E} as effective as its description sounds?

I like the idea of being able to just drop a blind, or a bleeding on someone and then having them suffer for a while.

But is this really that effective?

Any monk with Mend Ailment can greatly help out someone suffering from Virulence, but with Epidemic, I would be able to spread the disease to everyone near in the opposing party.

Can anyone help me see the Pros and Cons of this skill more clearly?

For PvE, I find it to be highly effective with a wa/ne. Disease spreads by itself. It is the multiple stacked conditions that are good.

ok the degen and effect all of those stacked conditions can have is quite fatal when timed right with spikes.

But im wondering for PvP. preferably CA, maybe even Tombs because of the spreading...

With Epidemic, the original target loses the conditions when they spread. This isn't necessarily an issue, particularly if you use Fragility on him, but it's something to be aware of.

I'm a little confused though since you mention Trapper, then Epidemic. It works very well for trappers, since the conditions that it imparts are mutually exclusive with trap conditions. Blind + On Fire + Bleeding + Crippled + Poisoned + Weakness + Diseased!! And if you are on a trapping team where someone else brings Spike Trap, they will be knocked down when you cast it.

If you are with trappers, then casting Fragility on a mob to lure him into the traps, then hitting Virulence when they trigger, and Epidemic directly after, ought to kill just about everything in the UW.

As far as PvP goes, remember that there is a 2 second recharge on Mend Ailment, and they only get one at a time. Mend Condition can't be used on the caster, so I like to aim for Protector Monks (or use Epidemic to give it to him). Both cast quickly, so they are hard to interupt, but hey? There had to be a reason for ... (Can't find it now... That AoE interruptor... I thought it was Chaos Storm but I don't see interupt in it's description...), right? Ah, heck. Just use Backfire on him and be done with it.

yes, it is chaos storm. The description must be wrong then :P

I only mentioned Epidemic because i was thinking of moving towards a R/Me, rather than just a trap ranger.

Epidemic does not heal the original target of the conditions. The original target and all affected retain the condition for the rest of its duration.

Chaos storm doesn't interrupt, just drains energy. The spell you are thinking of is maelstrom, I think.

Create a Maelstrom at target foe's location. For 10 seconds, foes in that area are struck for 10-22 cold damage each second. Maelstrom interrupts Spell-casting when it hits. This Spell causes Exhaustion.

Elementalist, but is that what you were thinking of?

virulence is kinda shakey
sure you can spread 3 conditions to an enemy but the disease also hits your team
and then if the other team has a prot monk with mend ailment, you just wasted your elite spot.

I think everyone has covered all the things I wanted to say, except for one point - epidemic's range is not so great. It will spread conditions to adjacent enemies only.

Yup, that's the one. It usually sucks because the moment you see the enemy cast it, you start moving and you don't suffer much in the way of damage at all. When you are crippled, however...
